This video is gold. I just blew up a tube while fitting conti 5000 on my wheel with standard tyre levers. i knew its not optimal but there was just no other way to get it done. This not only presents the seemingly better tool for it, but also how to actually use it right. Thank you for saving me a lot of time during the rest of my life :) Enjoy riding

Hi Wayne, thanks for making this video, I’m feeling these exact symptoms right now. The weird thing is, it started 15 minutes after I took a pretty bad fall and landed on my hip and on my right side. The quads lock up, burn like hell, and can’t bend my legs at all when it happens. Laying straight-legged, elevating the legs, and applying ice helps get rid of it short term, but I haven’t found anything to help fully get rid of this. Also worth noting, I tried to cycle yesterday (3 days after the fall) and half a mile in, worst episode yet. Sounds/feels like symptoms of a quad strain or tear but the pain literally migrates around my legs, and even goes to the leg that I didn’t land on. Would appreciate any advice as I’m currently laying uselessly in my bed with work that I desperately want to get back to. Thanks again for the video, glad I’m not alone in this.

I use ceramic muck off (green bottle). Love it and no issues. To clean, just rinse off with a hose , dry up and relube. Super fast. I can’t see myself going through all that trouble. Just saying. To each his own. Just can’t ride in the rain though.

Just drop Continental tires altogether and replace them with Pirelli og Hutchinson. So much easier to put on and pull off, and the tires are at least just as good.

I have also been using Squirt since about 2017. Only difference with application for me is, I select biggie/smalls. Then start lubing on individual rollers on the chain above the chainstay, and also below the chainstay. I wait a few minutes for it to soak into the rollers and for the water to evaporate. A rotation of the crank to position the next untreated links, means that I can repeat the procedure, resulting in only a few links that are left to lube. I find that waiting a few minutes before before rotating the granks results in the lube soaking into the rollers, and not depositing itself on the chainrings and casettes. I'm getting just over 9,000 miles from the chain when I change it before it reaches the .75 chainwear measrement. Great lube.

My quads are quite painful at night until the next day after doing 50km of ride at moderately high intensity. The funniest part is only my quads are painful, nothing else. Im not sure is related to uric acid. Anyway to reduce uric acid?

My thoughts is if you left the lube all over the chain and you get caught in the rain it will repel the water and you won’t get rust

The censor scared the ugh outta me!

Loosen the valve, fit the valve part of the tyre last & you don't need levers. By fitting at the valve 1st your working the tyre out of the tolerances it was made to work within. If you do it last you can push the full bead into the centre of the wheel. Once the tyre is on push the valve back in using the tyre, job done easy.

My quadriceps are suffering the same. I'm Korean and I've been experiencing the same symptoms since 3 years ago. It was about 3 months after I started cycling. This cannot be considered DOMS or simple muscle cramps. It's as if my leg is being cut, and I feel a burning sensation. Even when I go to the hospital, they just tell me to rest, and I'm tired of hearing that kind of talk. In the meantime, I found the same forum as yours, and got a lot of information. I'm currently off the bike for about a month, and I'm going to take the MTHFR test like Katie Compton said. Have you ever taken the MTHFR gene test?

Soaking a rag with motor oil (any engine oil will do) and pulling the chain through it is all I do. That's it. Nothing else. Repeat every week on rainy conditions and every month on dry conditions. No special expensive chain oil, chain wax and no degreaser or anything else needed. Motor oil has everything needed, it works not only as a lubricant but also as a detergent and rust inhibitor, it has anti wear components, too. In winter it's thin enough and in summer thick enough due to its viscostiy improvers it comes with when it is a multigrade oil which every motor oil nowadays is. Like I said, everything ever needed is already in motor oil included. There is no cheaper and more effective way to take care of your bicycle chain.

Why do you put it in alcohol after the degreaser? With a magner its easier to get the chain lock out of the jar.
